Counterfeit Kit Challenge May Kit Reveal and Blog Hop

Hi friends!

Here we are with a new month and a new batch of inspiration.
Our lovely Lisa has chosen a beautiful kit comprised mostly of my 2 favorite colors...
Blue and Green!
Take a look at Gossamer Blue's March Kit:

I found 2 collections in my stash that when combined made for a nice counterfeit of the original.
Pink Paislee's Atlas and October Afternoon Treasure Map give just the right amount of blue and green with the pop of yellow we see in the inspiration.

Take a look at my May Kit...

I am a few hours late posting this, hence the kit name!   I won't delay you any longer.  Hop on over the to Susan's blog (and all the other Master Forgers) to see their take on the kit.  I'd also like to welcome, Christy, our lovely guest designer.  I've admired her work over at Scraphappy and LOAD for years.  We are in for a treat this month!  Welcome, Christy!

March Counterfeit Kit Challenge March Full Kit Reveal and Blog Hop

Hello there.  It's been a while.  I'm sure you've read about and experienced some of the changes over at Counterfeit Kit.  I haven't played since January and that's by design.  Life has been quite busy, but I'm not willing to give up my scrappy space, so I devised a plan to keep my hand in CKC while giving myself some time to breathe between kits and blog posts.  Fellow Master Forger Stephanie is also in a busy time in her life with a new little one to care for, so we are sharing a Master Forger position.  You saw Stephanie feature her mini kit last month and this month I'll be sharing a full kit. So, that brings me to an every other month schedule.  I'm hoping to jump in more often when I can, but at least I'll know I have a bit more time to assemble my kit.  Sounds like a plan, right?  RIGHT!

Well, you know what they say about best laid plans....

Oh dear...

I kind of had a problem.  You see...my entire scraproom was turned upside down.  My hubby was installing new flooring in the entire basement and everything had to be moved.  And I have to admit, my stuff wasn't in the best order before he moved it all to put in the flooring.  So, here I am...the day before the reveal...kitting and blogging away.  This new plan was supposed to avoid that!  ACK!

Oh well...

I managed to get things sort of back in order and sift through my stuff to put together my March Kit, most appropriately named,  FLOORED!

In my true topsy turvy fashion, I haven't introduced you to the inspiration, chosen by Master Forger Margie and created by Hip Kit Club.  It's their February 2017 offering and it's a beauty.

My kit adds a few more colors and less black than the inspiration, but I included camera and butterfly motifs, horizontal stripes and circles as created by bubbles.  A touch of black is seen in the pocket cards.  Hoping to mist or watercolor those butterflies to create the same vibe as the ones fluttering around in the inspiration.

Here are a few more close ups.

So, while I was "floored" on how I was going to possibly get my kit completed, it all worked out...as things usually do.  (I'm getting wiser in my more mature years!)

I hope you aren't floored on how to approach this kit.  If you are, then just take inspiration from our guest designer, Raelene and the other Master Forgers.  Welcome, Raelene!  We are proud to spotlight you this month!

Visit them at their blogs here for plenty of inspiration.

Oh and by the way, yes...that is the new flooring you see behind my kit in my scrap room
and I just adore it!

Counterfeit Kit Challenge January Reveal and Blog Hop

Welcome 2017!
Happy New Year, scrappy friends!

It's been a wonderful Christmas season and as usual, I'm not even close to ready for ending it.
The real tree will come down soon as we ended up with a particularly dry one this year, but my little alpine tree and other wintry decorations will stay until after Valentine's Day.  It's a long winter here in the northeast so the glimmer of lights and the bit of greenery (even if it's artificial)
helps to keep the winter blahs away.

Speaking of green, have you seen the January inspiration for Counterfeit Kit Challenge?
Our Master Forger, Julene chose a wonderful kit full of green from down under where they are experiencing summer right now.  Let's take a look at these pretty pieces...

I always enjoy some Kaisercraft goodies and while I have some older pieces in my stash, I was inspired by the green in this kit and my longing to hang on to the greenery of Christmas.

Here's my take on the inspiration...

Here's the paper by Carta Bella that started off my kit.  Green, of course!

The plaid piece and the sticker sheet, along with the paper above are also by Carta Bella.  I decided to use this trio as the base of my kit.

I love the texture of this paper.  A snuggly cable knit sweater!  Paper by Little Yellow Bicycle

I subbed this cork paper for the burlap.

Here are some close ups of B sides and the sticker sheet.

While not an overwhelmingly green kit, the starting point was definitely based on green.  I know I'll enjoy using these winter inspired papers and supplies to keep the
spirit of the holiday going all winter long.

Hope you are inspired to create a kit that suits you!

Looking forward to seeing your kit on the January Mr. Linky.

Please be sure to visit all of the Master Forgers and our special guest designer
 and faithful participant, Cindy F.
 Welcome, Cindy!

Counterfeit Kit Challenge November Reveal and Blog Hop

Welcome Friends!

It has been a whirlwind here, but all good things.  Scrappy time seems to come few and far between these days, but I am still committed to creating...even if it's just a little bit each month.
I'd be fooling myself by making a huge kit, so this month's kit offers just the right amount.
One might say..."Perfectly Portioned!"

Take a look at this jiffy little slideshow I put together to showcase my sensible portions.
Check it out HERE !

NOTE:  Please pardon the advertisement.  You can "x" out of it or just wait and the slideshow will start within 5 seconds.
You do not need to download anything to watch.

Enjoy!

Next, you will hop over to the next Forger to see what she's serving up.  It's kind of like during the holidays when you need to make the rounds and visit all of the family!  I know by the end of the hop you will be stuffed with inspiration.  Hopefully, in this case, you won't need an antacid!

A special welcome to our "holiday table" to Dawn!
Thank you for guest designing with us this month!

Counterfeit Kit Challenge October Kit Reveal and Blog Hop

Drip, drop!
Drip, drop!
It's a rainy day here in the northeast.  A perfect day to stay in and kit.
This month Master Forger, Susan chose a collection pack for us to counterfeit.
"Indigo Hills" by Pink Fresh Studio is a bit modern for my taste, but there's always a way to approach the inspiration when it doesn't speak to you.
My eye was immediately drawn to the indigo blue and yellow, so that's the way I'll tackle my kitting.

Here's my take called...

"Scrappin' in the Rain"

Let's take a better look inside the umbrella to see the extras...

Touches of gold mimic the inspiration.  I'll be "showering" my layouts with more goodies than shown here as the month goes on.  I was having trouble gathering things that "worked" so I may have to take my lead from the specific layout I'm working on at the moment.

And the papers...

Classic papers from My Mind's Eye, Basic Grey and Authentique feel like the right fit for me.  The yellow and blue combination is a favorite of mine.

Let's welcome our guest designer, Kelly!  We are so happy you are playing along with us this month.

Be sure to hop along (and jump through rain puddles, too!) to all of the other Master Forgers.
Now I must go and bring in those supplies as rain and PAPERcrafting supplies don't mix!
Thanks for stopping by!

Challenge #3 - Call a Spade a Spade

Challenge #3 has us being inspired by the iconic (and expensive) style of Kate Spade.
Truth is that I've got caviar tastes with a tuna fish wallet!
I spotted this Kate Spade bag while browsing one the "better" department stores, but quickly got sticker shock when I noticed the price tag.
No way...no how could I justify carrying around a $300 wicker handbag even though I thought it was just adorable.
Plus, throw in my family's obsession with VW bugs and I was head over heels.

Oh well...a girl can dream!

Sigh...

Counterfeit Kit Challenge September Reveal and Blog Hop

And just like that...we are at the end of summer!  How did THAT happen?

September is here and the kids are going back to school.

We did just squeeze in a final trip to the beach with extended family which really pushed my time limits in getting this kit done.  Packing up for a week at the beach is no easy task (think:  sheets, towels, food, meal prep. as the in laws like to eat in and the list goes on).  My joke is that this isn't a vacay...it is a TRIP!  Anyway, I came home early to get my son off to his first day of school (yes, the in laws booked the TRIP without realizing that he would be going back to school) and my husband and daughter will finish out the week with the fam.  I had my papers chosen, but couldn't pull it all together before we left.  So, I was fighting for daylight to photograph and you will have to forgive the rather dark photos and brief blog post.

Master Forger Margie chose Felicity Jane's August Kit as our inspiration.

Here is my take on the kit...a nod to the last sweet days of summer.

My apologies for not taking you through my process of choosing my kit.  Working against the clock to get this done and my DS ready for his first day of school tomorrow.  I found a doctored up version of Dear Lizzie's Neapolitan collection made a great starting point and worked from there.  In the meantime, sit back and enjoy the hop with some Sweet Tea and then be sure to share your take on the CKC Linky.

Here's the blog order...starting with our guest designer, Nicole.
Welcome, Nicole!  Hope you have a fun month creating with us!
